You're going to need to mention all the variables...Front suspension? Fenders? Current brakes?
If you've got stock brakes, fenders, and a BJ beam look at the 5th post in this thread. --- With the same setup and CB BJ drop spindles, you'll need to narrow the beam by the same amount the spindles add (Appox. 19.05mm). Remember, this is only a 'proven' method, others may/will work too.

`71 Super Beetle:
"The fronts are 17 x 7 ET55 and the rears are 17 X 9 ET55. I had to use a 28mm spacer to keep them from hitting the swing arm on the back. Up front I used Toplines MaXX Strut with a 3/8 spacer. The wheels are Carrera Cup from a Porsche 993.
Also, to help square up the car and allow the 9" wheels to fit inside the fenders, I went with 1 1/4" wider fenders on the back."

I put Porsche Boxster 16's on my car...
Front: 16x6 ET50 with 205/55's
Rear: 16x7 ET40 with 215/55's
Here are my current specs:
Stock upright headlight fenders
Stock width beam
Stock bug spindles
stock drums studded 5-130
1-1/4" wider than stock CCC fenders on back
To get the front centercaps on we had to modify both the dust caps and speedo cable in addition to running an 8mm spacer per side
In affect I had 6" ET42 wheels with 205/55's and I couldn't lower the front end more than ~2.5" (Avis beam) without rubbing.
To get the rear wheels on we had to clearance the chassis suspension stop and the forwardmost springplate bolt.

I've since run custom 15x6" Porsche 356 (5x205mm) rims on the back of my bug with widened fenders and Thing drums (which push out the rear trackwidth a total of ~1-1/2" or 38mm). The wheels had ~3.25" frontspace (82.55mm) and had 195/60's mounted on them...it was nearly a perfect fit with my 1.25" wider than stock fenders.
I've also ran custom 15x7" Porsche (5x130mm) rims on the back of my bug with 215/60's. They had 3.25" frontspace as well, so I used 21mm (~3/4") spacers from I believe a 944. The fit with wider fenders was perfect (not too full, but not lacking).
I've also run 16x8 ET52 Porsche Design-90 rims (5x130) on the back with 225/50's. I used 1" (25.4mm) spacers and the fit with wide fenders was OK, but they really could have come out some more.

"I measured CBPerformance diskbrake lowering spindles and stock 'Ghia spindles from the inner wheel bearing seat to the upper balljoint hole and came up with a difference of less than ¼" (~3/16").
Also measured a stock Beetle drumbrake spindle and the difference was over 3/8" (in other words, stock 'Ghia and stock Beetle don't measure the same here) - but keep in mind that's to the inner bearing location, not the lugbolt plane, so if there's any difference between drums and rotors that will effect the track width too."

Latest suspension pics:
http://photobucket.com/albums/v212/Kafe ... ject%2069/
Avis adjustable powdercoated beam
CB drop spindles and disc brakes
Stock height KYB GR2's
2-1/2" wider than stock CCC early style(`66/`67-down) fenders
Rossi headlights
8mm spacers
modified dust caps
modified speedometer cable
16x6" ET50 wheels with 205/55's
Only substancial difference in the pictures it's got 15x5.5" ET40 rims with 195/60's - which actually have 3.65mm more frontspace than the 16x6's

Although they could be wired as t'signals they'd be barely discernible in daylight and totally worthless with the headlights on, so they'll be used only as parking lamps - I'm thinking of using some small high-intensity lamps (like those "mini" accessory backup lights) under the bumper for turnsignals.
