Balancing Pistons - How Much Weight

I'm glad you brought that up because I had wondered if adding weight would be possible.

Unfortuneately, this is my daily driver and the fix had been held up too long so I had to go for the quick fix.

Has anyone else tried adding weight like this?

Garland Industries here in Toronto take material out of the wrist pin, how I don't know. Maybe they use a lathe set up for that purpose. That way they can do all pistons the same way from superbikes to V8s. And they balance to 0. For my money it's worth it. The amount they charge wouldn't even buy a scale. And then there's still the crank & flywheel too.

I was at my welder today, and I mentioned that I told you, to weld on weight to your piston, and he showed me a box (a large box full) of brand new Polaris snowmobile pistons, that he added weight to for them to grind, to balance the pistons out! and he said he's been doing it for them and others quit some time!
