There was definitely a different "overall" attitude to JDaniels post (the same one Steve started this thread with). Its worth checking the Pelican Parts 911 forum link above...there are some sobering experiences being shared.
My wife was involved in a head on collision 8 years ago (she was in a Corolla and the other Driver was in a Semi). She survived with only a fractured skull and broken ankle. I am grateful everyday that she wore her seatbelt. My daughter had just been dropped off at Day Care, which is a blessing as the passenger side of the car was gone when the paramedics arrived. 15 years prior to that she (my wife again) was thrown from a car when her Mom fell asleep at the wheel (driving outside Vegas)and rolled the vehicle. She survived that one too (but not without her share of body casts).
She is a good woman...how good you ask? Well, we were looking to sell the teener after we got a more reliable daily driver for me (one with A/C for the hot AZ summers)...and when she noticed how sad the whole affair was becoming for me, she suggested we keep it as our "Date Car" (and no...I was not walking around sulking in case you were wondering). I know that was a sacrifice for her as she was hoping to use the money from the sale to pay off some debts.
The posts/reply's on the link (Steve's most recent post) to the Pelican Parts forum remind me of whats most important...and it ain't sitting in the garage.
