What is it with you wasser boxer guys always trying to compare a modified 2.1L (at what cost??) to a stock subaru 2.2L? Get real. What's it going to cost to get a wasser up to 130 HP?

Try picking a good used scooby unit up for £50 (~$75) and then fit it in a bug for £50 more, wbx's are two a penny cos no ones woken up to the fact that, although pants in a 1500 kg+ (?) bus, there a good useable CHEAP alternative to costly type I power.

I ain't flaming you fella just putting in MY perspective.

Hey Single Cab

One reason, two letters, because its a VW engine. The 1800 Subaru motors are hand grenades if you turn up the wick and the quad cam latter motors in my case wont fit a bug.

Huh? are you saying it's bad? Are we talking about EJ engines or EA engines - the EA is an old design, not the best. My EJ20 still runs fine after 250K of harder than average driving - and the occasional complete thrashing... but not more than once every three minutes :-)
