Yeah, and that's about how much I need.

What the pros and cons are for each fix I don't know. Taking material is weakening, but who can afford it more, and the costs are something to consider. Maybe it would be a good idea to just have the cam hard-welded and cut down at the same time. The problem is that I don't know what the rods are going to do until I get this part done, so I might be looking at more clearancing. Image

So what's a safe crank/lobe clearance? Is circa 0.020 enough?

I would shoot for .030 clearence, and I would taper and rebalance the crank before going out and purchasing a new cam only to find you still are a little close for comfort. hope all works out for you.

And I guess Webcam can do this for me. Any ideas what it's going to cost me? I'd ask them, but it is Sunday.

How will this affect the longevity of the cam and lifters? The lifters are going to be a little further up the bore, how much more is uncertain, but probably not enough to worry about.
