chromaly push rods DON\'t expand?!
I just replaced the Scat Chromoly pushrods on my engine with BugPack ones because the ends wore out on the Scats. Its been over a month now and no problems yet.
I am only using single HD springs and not reving over 5500 so I don't see why they failed. I guess its just more after market crap.

well, heres my riff on the subject-- i, too, have had problems with those damn Scat chromoly rods, switched to Bugpack, not much better. but heres the secret!! BAMBOO!! yep- thats rite-- bamboo was used in ancient times by the Zigwagee tribe in South Jeehosaflat, and it worked for them flawlessly for hundreds of years. then a gang of nomadic desert pirates called the Restootinanees invaded South Jeehosaflat and robbed them of their only remaining crop of Kimbalazoo Bamboo (as it is known), and poisoned the soil with radioactive waste. the bamboo was lost for over a thousand years, and its farming tecniques remained a mystery for all this time-- until now. i have miraculously re-discovered the secrets to growing this amazing bamboo, and have a crop ready to go now. supplies are limited, so hurry and dont miss your chance. send check or money order for $99.95, or choose my easy-pay plan and make 5 monthly installments of just $29.99 each. sorry, no c.o.d.'s.

Sure budy what? Where are you confused? I don't recall saying anything about Scat being better than Bugpack or vise versa.
Five of my Scat pushrods wore out in a random pattern at the lifter end. This happend on both intake and exhaust in random order. The springs were not binding nor where the retainers hitting the guide, no lubrication problems, valve geometry correct, lifter bore clearance OK.
I replaced them with Bugpack because my parts guy had Scat and BP and I didn't want to use the Scats again. Would I buy from Scat again?...sure probably before I would buy BP. I doubt that Scat actually makes pushrods nor BP they probably purchase from an outside supplier.
If I hadn't thrown them out I would have mailed them to you (free of charge) so you could us them in your car.
Next time I'll just spend $99 and get the bamboo ones.
Cheers
Josh

hey- that voice activated starting system thing is great, but unfortunately, its out-dated technology. you see, here at Evil Industries, we strive to be the leaders in cutting edge technological advancements, and we have recently completed production on a revolutionary new advantage in vw engine starting. its called "The Thinker". this amazing new device quickly and easily attaches to the vehicles wiring system, and once installed, this little black box will actually read your thoughts!!! its simple!! you simply walk into the garage, open the door, and "think" your vw to life!!! thats right! just stand back and watch as your car revs up at your mere thinking about it! the secret is in the internal microprocessing neuro-sensitive left-semi atrium biocarbide nitrogen-filled 5 flame analyzation detectors. these revolutionary detectors actually recieve and process the signals that are tranmitted by your brain, convert these signals to electronic commands, and send the message to the starter, ignition system, and fuel system to bring the car to life!!! and heres the best part!! you can upgrade your system to "The Super Thinker", which useing the same technology, will actually control all systems and aspects of operating your car on the road!!! you just sit back, relax, think about where you want to go, and let The Super Thinker do the rest!!! (were also currently designing an optional attachment that will do a few things your wife wont for those frequent times you've been up late working on your car and spending way too much money.) so call now and get your "Thinker" or "Super Thinker" now and be the envy of the neighborhood!!! price? dont worry about it- just leave your credit card number. please allow 3-4 years for immediate delivery.
