Re: The Aufgeladen Ghia
Sent the coil pack to have mounting bracket welded. Took apart the intake manifold to have IAT sensor bung welded on.
Actually found a TIG welder here locally. While taking apart the manifold, found numerous spots that are leaking. As you all know, intake leaks are bad. Going to have the TIG welder guy fix all the leaks I found. Need to finish running the fuel line, I can then drop the car back down on all fours and remove the gas tank for the in-tank pump installation...

Looking good! You should make an intake pressure tester. Helps find those leaks you might not see.
In take fuel pump is the way to go I wish I would have gone that way from the start.

Thanks Schweg! I will look into the intake pressure tester you mentioned. I actually had Joeblow superchargers (out of Australia) send me a new T manifold due to a leak... Come to find out, there are a few more. Want to make sure these are air tight for sure. Been doing a lot of research with EFI. Figured, why not try my own DIY in-tank pump setup. My low pressure pump is sitting there waiting to be reused... if necessary.

Mine is just some exhaust pipe and a compressor fitting and I gauge it off my smaller compressor. You can make them out of PVC also.

Actually... These things are air tight now. Any air leaks will be my fault.
Before (notice the gas stains)
After... although I need to re-zinc coat it.

Thanks Madmike, Aufgeladen translates to "Charged" in German. So it covers both turbo and supercharger... Have a feeling I will be going turbo eventually. Boost is infectious.
Oh it gets covered alright... Covered in dust.

Forgot to show the results of the IAT sensor bung. These intakes were zinc coated, so the area around the weld has been compromised. Will have to either recoat them, or paint them.

Re: The Aufgeladen Ghia
But until I need to drop this motor for the new one... Im going to put it back together. This is a proof-of-concept, and I want to drive it. These supercharged engines are a blast to drive. More or less have it all back together, minus the coil pack and mounting bracket. Time to get the ECU mounted and wire it up.

Just requires taking the air cleaner off and a long funnel... Shouldn't be too difficult. Heck, I can just use the breather tube as a straw.

Great project. I have been running an AMR500 on a bone stock 1600cc in my ghia last summer, and the engine is in molecules for an overhaul and upgrade right now. I am using microsquirt ECU.
