I dont know carbs at all but arent 44's 44 mm in diameter? If so thats 21% more surface area than my 40 mm ITB's.
44's come stock with 36mm Venturi, 40mm Venturi can be had for a fee. And 40mm Venturi are what come stock in 48mm IDf's.

A Venturi change will require a re-jet.
Aaah so my 40 mm itbs correspond somewhat to IDF 48's. Then I guess airflow could be more of a restriction than I had guessed before with the combo of 2,7 liters and smaller throttles. I am guessing it will probably pull hard under 5k but flatten off quicker up top than a less restricted engine?
