Actually, that article precisely describes what happens if the bearing<>case and case thrust is jacked up, as repeatedly noted earlier, just in a much longer and far, far more entertaining format.

Dangerously assuming the case still has proper bearing crush, modding a "thrust cut" bearing to fit would save a case thrust cut, but usually the thrust being dorked strongly indicates the case<>bearing crush also went away long ago, or the bearing couldn't have moved// beat up the case thrust to begin with.

Some folks install a steel shim on a std bearing in lieu of a thrust cut shell.
(sometimes thrust cut bearing sets are harder to come by, and can be more expensive)

You can set up your endplay shims (and check for bearing/case thrust movement) with the case on the halfshell, with the flywheel on.
Its really the safest way, and can be enlightening.
(remove the dist drive, first out, last part into the case, after the flywheel goes on. Protects the brass drive gear from terminal dorkage)

You are almost certainly in need of an align bore and thrust cut, and a new set of mains to match.
You needed it the first time, and it sadly wouldn't have lasted very long even if the thrust hadn't seized.

Buy the mains, give them to the machinist and then the machinist will cut the case to match those bearings
Seriously.
The bearings OD varies enough to matter.
(always has been that way, for anyone that builds engines vs just assembles engines, anyway)

Sometimes, new replacement bearings are large enough on the OD to NOT require an align bore.
(the new Mahle bearings are typically a tiny bit bigger OD than they used to be, possibly for this reason, or perhaps just crap QA)
You are still better off starting again with round holes in the case.

Also: check the thrust surface on the crank, must also be perfect/flat.

This is getting scary and frustrating since this was a kit with ALL new parts, with the exception of the case.

Unfortunately the case wasn't quite ready for it from the look of things.
A kit provider can't know that.

At least you are probably only out a set of main bearings, it needed the align bore/thrust cut anyway from all indications.
I assume your guru has helped you check the block out for other fatal issues?
(spread case webs, cracks etc)

You may want to check the deck for flat/true while its apart, frequently (...usually) overlooked.

The fellows with cast iron blocks check deck for flat and true anytime even a head is off as a matter of habit, but we ACVW folks seem to think magnesium or aluminum is magical and doesn't change shape with heat cycling/age (age alone will do it, extreme heat cycles speed it up tremendously)

Hello. I've got the engine back together back in the car and running. After taking the engine down to Car-Craft, and dicussing what happened it was determined that the combination of too little end play and too light weight oil I cooked the main bearing. No big deal. New set of bearing and it all good. It is idleing great, now I just need to fix a few things to do some road tuning.

But I do have an issue. When I turn off the key. The engine wont shut down. I've read something about adding a diode somewhere. ???

That's an easy fix :)

Hello all,

I've been making adjustments trying to get a good clean idle, and quick start-up. I am almost there. I'd like to get your thoughts on this latest tune, along with the log that goes with it. Please let me know your thoughts...

I have placed the files in a Google Drive location.

OK. Looking at the MAP values that I have, I have come to the conclusion that I have not selected the correct MAP sensor settings. Considering that the Max MAP value that is recorded 67kPa, leads me to believe that something is not right.

I have the MAP DADDY upgrade. Currently, my configuration set to use "MPX4250 - 250kPa, MS v2.2+ (Default)" This should be set to "MPXH6400 - 400kPA", Correct?

Remember that I am still using MS1 Extra, version 29y3******. I am running Tuner Studio MS v2.6.19
