Give him a break Danny, it was WAY before his time (or yours for that matter...
_)
But then, I'd have thought it was way before Herb's time too.
And Chris...It looks like it's getting close to your wife's time though. Them things are harsh on offroad budget.
Thought youlda learnt that by now.

I think that could work better with a baby of different ethnicity, then in the delivery room you could be all teary and say "aww.... it looks just like me."cwrisley wrote:...and I find great joy telling people who dont know that shes a surrogate that shes pregnant with another mans child. We had a baby with a congential circulatory disease that came out pretty "black" for a white couple. The dad pulled the doctor aside and had to ask how they had a black baby and if he should be concerned.

Congrats on all counts. That is a very noble service your wife is providing.

Re: Wrisley's Buggy
I have some offroad friends who were trying very hard to have a baby, and finally found that neither could produce one. So just about that time, the wife's cousin in Texas got pregnant when they had nearly grown kids and both had just been laid off from work with poor prospects. They really didn't want to have the baby and could not afford the cost of raising a child or the hospital bills, and had no insurance anymore. They did not want to abort either. So the 2 couples agreed that the California couple would pay travel for the pregnant mom to come to live with them for the last trimester of her term, pay the medical costs for prenatal through birth, and then adopt the baby as soon as it was born. The really odd part is that as soon as the baby was born, everyone agreed that the baby bore a very strong familial resemblance to the adoptive dad. He and the genetic mother had never even met until she was 6 months pregnant. The baby has no genetic relation to him, but even now that she's in her teens, she looks very much as though she is his genetic daughter. The birth parents both have dark brown hair and the adoptive parents and the daughter all have blond hair.
It seems to me that the toughest part of doing the surrogate deal would be parting with the baby at birth. But if she can deal with that, it's a great thing to do for folks who want to be parents, but cannot. The world is overflowing with people who really should never have kids because they don't have the mindset for it. The house we are buying will present us with new neighbors across the street who are prime examples of the previous sentence. The woman angrily screams and yells obscenities at the kids and the kids do a fair amount of screaming in fear and maybe pain in response. We haven't closed escrow yet (maybe tomorrow) and I'm already thinking of calling the County Child Protective Services Department.
