HONKERSHOP build 2010

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Spray all that stuff down with anti spatter before welding/tacking. Oh the trans looks a little low to me, but I am waaaay over here.
Seriously looking good, I might have to come up one day and hang out.

Oh ,that guy builds nice parts for a blind chicken.

with the trans that low... we can ge mega ground clearance in the rear... hehe

OH yeah.. you will be up to play front end with us yes?
should be a lot easier than last year

we have 5 degrees tip on the trans as it sits on the "horns" with the fodrill trans mount from don's
measures our to 26 inch axles... nice amount of travel 20 inches or so.

NOYCE NOYCE NOYCE.... kids are stoked.

January 29
Rear Suspension installed with the help of BCR... waiting on shock mounts for the FOX Coilover/Airshocks CV's coming from CHUCK should be good for 14 degrees of droop around 18-20 travel on 26 inch axles
Casey and Chris are rocking the front A-arm mounts.. every little bit makes a difference.
Seats placed.. not welded in yet, waiting on the pedal placement along with shifter and cutter. harnesses on way from Simpson TINA rocks!
Cross bracing planned and fitting is in process
Dash supports 2/3 complete
Front width predicted wheelbase estimated at 105" +/- (wildside is 120")
Gauges in process from SPEEDHUT
still looking to get aviation style gauges OR beauty rings... but those will come as the gauges find their way into the dash
and YES... WILDSIDE was moved to storage (local.. easy access) but that opens up a lot of room in our shop.

Wow that's the first a-arm set up I've seen without pivots.
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

PVC allows a natural torsion
of course.. you have to use schedule 40.. LOL

mocked up to see front and rear width relationships and to predict a-arm length
but it DOES make you look twice...
you might be a redneck IF... your a-arm is made of PVC

UPDATE.. pictures.. well.. as they are

front pivot supports in and ready for the a-arms to be strung out. took casey and chris a bit to get the support to LOOK good and to do its job
rear hoop and rear cage in process.. got a couple working on it.. should turn out nice
our floor pan is ready to be cut out
dash is cut and fitted... ready for speedhut gauges and our airplane gauges. the diamond plate will be powdercoated so the flash won't bling you
adjustable light bar (with linear actuator) tabbed and ready for install... kiddo learned about eyeballing a bender and not following the computer instructons.. LOL
Axles cut down to 15-5/16 running IMCO spacers and raceprepped 930's we measured 20 inches of travel on our 4x5.. thus warranting the taller tires. 33 STU blasters on 12x15 beadlocks

working on a "flying tiger" graphics plan (no response from slamwrap people) Scottfree and/or Matt(chaos) are working on them, to match our airplane gauges (airspeed, bank, horizon, and AIRSPEED, along with altitude... NO johnny, that doesnt measure how HIGH you jump!)

until the front has wheels.. it does not look like much... i also coach track in the spring, so the kids are shoved out of the shop right at the bell.. UGH... priorities right! LOL

speedhut gauges shipped today! WOO HOO

Can I go back through highschool (ala Billy Madison) and transfer into your shop class? My auto shop class in HS was lame (adjusting headlights, tuneups, etc.)
I don't always show my signature. But when I do, it's in this area.

THE BOMBER will look like something out of WWII
might have to paint a BALL on the shop wall

shock droop... placement seemed to determine itself
upper sweep with shock extended
then sweep with shock compressed on full compression.

Image
and the gauge set from speedhut
go HONKERSHOP and falcon aviation gauges

front floor plate going in to be fitted (someone measured too big... thanks curtis)
that will allow the pedals and seats to be set
movable light bar in process and the front suspension is ready to string out

From the looks of a couple pics, it "looks" like the seat mounts may be backward. Cant tell if that was mock-up or welded in. Typically, they are higher in front to make a "pocket" to sit in.
