DG i know you were talking about using a toggle switch to activate your turn signals here is just another idea i would like to throw out again just a suggestion
that first longer handled switch thats right under the display is what is referred to as a 4 position joy stick it locks left and right or is maintained which is the correct electrical description it is momentary up and down so it hops back to center so obviously left and right are my turn signals
i swat it down for my horn and up to do my hi/lo beam head light function
Hey 2088 Bob...
You and the entourage going to the "Wet & Chilly" swap meet?
I think I've seen that buggy. I thought it had a T1 in it... I love the conversion...
No i think I'll pass.... this car has been a waterpumper almost all its life had the first bunny motor in it in 86 and this is my 5th bunny motor each getting more nasty than the last ever since my baby bro sold his drag car (Meatball Express) our interest in the club scene has died i have never been much of a car club kind of guy anyway
2088 BOB. Grassie is located just South of Grimsby. It's probably not on any maps.
Scot D's your brother?
I remember seeing a wicked street buggy in Oshawa with a McNutt Rabbit/Golf motor. Dual side draft Webers and a bunch of compression. Dyno'ed about 225HP. A little on the pretentious side but WOW. This was in a Hunter fiberglass buggy. I've got a pic somewhere...
Too bad about the KW show. I always enjoyed it. Pretty small some years but usually an interesting swapmeet. Do you know what happened? I know Joe wanted out and was grooming Steve to take it over...
Usually everyone seems to want to be run a club but nobody wants to work at it. I just lay low and do the Tuesday cruise night scene with some local guys.
I show up to the Import events on occasion. Now that's a happening scene. Most of the VW events are pretty tame compared to them. Sort of like comparing Friday night to going to Church on Sunday...
my motor is one of McNutts 8 valvers dynoed at 165hp the hunter bodied glass car with the 16valve motor belongs to frank williamson i still see frank from time to time scotty d is known as my baby brother you know the Big brother Big sister program we are like family he and i spend more time together than i do with my own family actually i may have jumped the gun on that statement about the KW bug club
McNutt's shop in toledo has now closed although he is still building motors right now for the midget guys spoke to denny on the phone this past wednesday we have been friends outside of the vw scene for nearly 30 years now. me and baby bro are headed to toledo week after next to actually visit with denny for a couple of days
Looking at my first diagram, I am not so sure it would work as I hope. I came up with this one and think I will mock it up to see if it is workable. If anyone can see any pitfalls, please let me know.
All wires would be 14AWG with a 20AMP fused circuit. I would "tap" off of #87 on the second relay to go to dash indicator.

Did a mock-up to see if the circuit would work. Used a OFF-MOM toggle switch to mimic the brake switch. Works like a charm. When depressing brake, both brake lights illuminate. Turning the toggle either left or right activates the turn signal; and when depressing brake while turn signal is activated, the turn side "blinks" while the other side holds steady. The circuit was ran through LED's and worked great with the electronic flasher.
Here was the mock-up.
Using this diagram:
