My failed JB application was to attach the breather tubes to the valve covers. That lasted a couple of weeks max. maybe it was the heat comming straight off the the underside of the engine that finnally cooked the pieces and caused the JB to flake off....

Must not like the oil.

I have used JBWeld on things you shouldn't, and it usually holds up to heat pretty well.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Had a small catastrophy with the engine (http://www.shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic ... 278#755278).

While I had it out I pulled the gallery plug and there was no bushing. The lifter gallery & fuel pump pushrod bore are perfectly "coaxial". Looking at the setup, it just didn't seem like tapping the plug and plugging the gallery with a bolt would work well. So I found a strong 8.8 bolt with a long threadless shaft that fit very snug. I cut it to legnth but left the hex head on and trimmed off 2/3 of the head. That way the head clears the side of the bore but still keeps it from being sucked in and hitting the cam (just in case). I don't think it will move though. It was an almost perfect fit.

Bummer on the head... Now get them both done by Adrian or HAM, or if all else fails EMW.

Don't just have that "one" seat fixed, you might find you'll end up doing it again, soon.

a little oil getting by the rings on initial break in IS normal...
(oily chamber) but should go away as soon as you stand on it a few times.

As to the plug---
A tapped plug or some sort of press-fit would be best, but that will probably do, as long as it can't get at a lifter... It should help.

I think that a tapered aluminum plug under the outside plug might be best, can't get out... Matches expansion of case w/temp.

The head oil leak means the head was LOOSE, or at least didn't fit (sumtings not flat).

(Not using head gaskets, right??

Copper-kote spray allowed to gel up and brushed on is what Jake recommended at one point. I have tried it, works, but I never had any issues "dry", so YMMV.

I use Permatex Ultra-Copper RTV (JUST a smear is all you want) on the case side of the jugs. No head gaskets or base gaskets. Check the deck.
