Your bell housing could be clearanced for a larger diameter flywheel.. some nutballs just start hacking everything... most don't know the trick.

Hopefully it will be ok. it's pretty ugly...

I got a new doghouse shroud and oil cooler today. Hoping I may have time this weekend to get that stuff on the engine and into the car.

Well I took off the other fan shroud and have since put on the new one with the new oil cooler(stock).
Nothing too exciting. Snapped a pic of the motor below.

Can anyone tell me what this cam is? I didnt get much information from the PO about the engine... C25?

Well Ryan I thought you would be able to figure out the cam Is usually billet material that is machined down to different lift and degrees.

It is a T-1 Scat cam .385inX275Deg Hi Rev

I always thought it was a tiny bat....

Hi-rev is who manufactures the cam for scat. The C25 is actually referred to as "the hill climber". Lots of low end torque, and is for engines up to 1776cc used in heavy off-road buggies.

Sounds like you could not get any better than that...oh...and it falls on it's face at 5000 rpm...so shift before that.

Hehe. Thanks for the info guys. I found out last night that the case he used is a single relief case... Disapointed to see the PO cutting corners. Uhg.

Well the plan is to get the engine in the car tonight and start it up. I installed the Filter/pump combo, Exhaust system and the Dell Carbs last night so just about there.

Took an extra evening but she roared to life tonight! Yay!

I let it run for 20 min to break in the cam. Sounds like a beast already! I have one oil leak at the pump housing. Not looking forward to removing that...

ryan dont orrie, i think i have figure out that vw's all leak oil its how the germans vented the case. i know mine is VERY well vented!

Now I just need to order my Baja kit. Well that and remove the crappy cage inside and get some seats going... Oh and finish converting the electrical to 12v...
