the Suby will take a year or two just to get used to the power...yeah...it is that good....
but what about the oil pan that hangs down 9 1/2 inches? (figured shmo hasnt been around, so i'd mention it)

What is REALLY shocking with these motors is the amount of low end power...like right off a slow cruise where most engines need rpm built to take off...the Suby will just launch.
i know what thats like . i took my dad for a ride in the desert, he was like the whole time
Subybaja, man that was funny. Ya have to watch what and how you say things around here.
So Scott modifing a ECM on the fly is out of the question, so is it possible to have a saved map for high end, one for torgue can they be changed that much?

The cool thing is...you really wont need different maps...unless you want to design a map for fuel mileage. It will run like it should...where it should...Like down low...you will have good smooth power and up high you will have the same thing..There are times when you would might need to change up a few things on an open loop system...like if you were at high elevation.
Is the Bosch (stock T4 or T1) system open or closed...
Is MegaSquirt Open or closed???
I don't think he wanted a long answer... just a clarifcation (validation) of his guess.
Thanks.. great post.

As you know... I am no VW expert...but I do believe that the VW was a open loop system. I think the type 4 was basically the same set up with larger injectors and different pulse widths...but not 100% sure on it.
The Megasquirt question is a hard question to give you a short answer on. It is really kind of it's own animal...I guess the best description in short would be...it's both open and closed...but goes about it's close loop differently than most.
