I was driving past the other day and spotted it sitting under the carport. Didnt have any time otherwise would have stopped to check it out.

How'd those engine mounts work out? I'm thinking of changing mine to rubber next i have the engine out, urethane seems to have the consistancy as solid mounting

Nah, the black one wasnt there. Thats a bummer about the engine mounts, I havent got around to doing mine yet...... but I do have a nice bag full of those orange bushes.....

Yeah for sure.... we're looking at doing a Manx Club run through some of the mild Glasshouse Mountains tracks in September, with an overnight camp at Coochin Creek.

Three of us checked it out the other day..... this was the mild track meant for soft roaders.......

Have spent alot of time in the glasshouse forestry over the years, just amazed me that in the year that i was building the baja how much they changed.

The boat just raises too many questions

Quick thing that has sprung up over the few months - I found using the T4 cv joints race prepped that my cv boots were breaking up every few trips. What it turns out was happening, the axle was actually chewing out where the rubber boot is folded into the tin section of the boot. The stock T2 boot only allows for maybe 20 degrees of travel.

So here is a quick fix for this using toyota hilux IFS boots. As a bonus these are alot more flexible rubber and cost about half of the vw boot and alot more avalible



Is a really simple thing really. cut the boot off the tin, grind the inside out of the tin (the bit the axle is hitting)
Weld a piece of 1/8 wire around the outside and make sure there are no sharp edges



Cut the bottom ring of the toyota boot, they appear to be generic boot used on more than one type of toyota and have three different locating rings stepping down in sizes. The second fits very nicely over the vw tin and the welded wire fits inside the locating ring.



The very bottom ribs of the new boot are quite tight on the cv bolts and may be a bit of a fiddle to get on now, but I think as a bonus this may help stop the bolts from working loose

Quick post because it's been like 6-8 months since I've been on here,
Moved inland for new career/study, is like 6hrs from anything resembling a beach as (I know it anyways) The baja really hasn't gotten out much of late because there really isn't much offroading here, ITS ALL SO FLAT! Will be about a year still before I got out of this place and back to the coast so am doing a few things on the baja just to blow the dust off it.
The front arms bent while jumping it on fraser island (LR brand - shouldn't surprised really) So the aussie dollar being so good at the moment have a set of Eagle arms coming. Also have noticed that my rear tyres are wearing alittle funny, turns out I some excess toe in happening, so getting some coilover conversion plates coming from eagle aswell. Big shout out to BAJA5 for helping me out will those again, am really liking those things you boys are building.
Am slowly trying to catch up on everybodies builds in my spare time, there ain't alot of it and the internet is really sloooowww here.

It's a sunny day out here in wagga wagga, still on 8* outside (46F* ?) will have to check my conversions, anyways sunny means the internet works today!
Got my packages in the mail this morning. New set of arms and coilover conversions from eagle, Also a little surprise extra from Baja5, thanks man. Measuring up a few nuts and bolts needed to change things over today aswell as turning that engine over, has been close enough to 2 months.

Glad everything made it OK. Now get to work
