All righty. Thanks. I did have the other one on there at first and just couldnt get the spring plate to line up right. I will fool around with it next weekend when I get a chance to work on the car again.

Its already leaking. The kit came with seals like the stock ones, but they were the wrong size, for a bus tranny instead of bug  So silicone it is!

Figuring out shock mounting location. Used AutoCAD to find the upper shock mounts and if I can get the 14" im looking for it will work out good with the 10" shocks.

So I used the intersecting arcs technique to help me figure out the upper shock mount.

Since I couldnt actually swing the shock without chopping off half of my body, i used autocad to do it.

And I know this is a very crude drawing, but it took me all of 3 minutes to do.

Got the correct arm on the right side. Set up the stub axle, cvs and axle on the right side for mock up and started with the shock mock up.
The stub axle was a huge PITA since I had to scrounge (sp?) the spacers out of the bearing housing.

Christmas in July?

I ordered some stuff from A&A manufacturing. Shock mount tabs.

And I orderes the clevises for my limit straps from McKenzies Thur afternoon and they were at my house before I got home from work on Friday. They didnt come with the small diameter tubing to mount them, I got those at Patton Steel this morning.

Image

Also Picked up 60 feet of tubing this morning for the shock mounts and the front end once I get to it. Might not be enough, but it should be good for now.

And the shocks

Is this angle bad? Will it put too much stress on the heim end?

cut the tubing in half (or a bit less) so you will have more adjustment. the jamb nuts will go on each side of the tubing...

Image

can you move the lower mount to the right? mine are in line with the spring plate mount.

hope this helps....

Ok. They only came in one length and I stole the idea from Skid's car. I figure the straps will stetch a bit but not sure how much.

All right. I will move it to the inside of the flange. I wanted it barely to the left of it, but then I cant get a bolt in there. And not enough room to mount it right inline. The mount is prefabbed.

Looks good Rick, seems like you are cruisin' along. As far as the clevis mounts for the limit straps, here is an idea for you. As BajaHerbie said, the mount does not need to be too long, that way you can use the clevis as it is designed... to take up slack as needed, correct minor "bad placement" and they just look cool...

As far as limit strap stretch, most say 1" per 12" of strap, that I hear. But, folks try to work their math magic when you are talking about double, triple, and quad straps... Basically, if it needs to be taken up a bit, then do so...

Also, you can throw in a spring on the clevis to cut down on the rattlin'

As Herbie mentioned, the nut on both sides of the tube will eliminate the need for the spring.... no rattling. 8)
