Here sits my first real hot T1...
Less than 100 mi.

And the linkage is making me insane...

Tell me you can't see this motor with the set-up.

What would it take?

I have been casually collecting parts for oh, 15 years or so...

The T4 is my real love, but, you know how it is,
T1 parts are like stray animals, they follow you home.

So, here are a set of Italian 44s re-done by Art Thraen....
The straight-cut gears are singing, and the 86b is wacking away.
9.4:1 CR and the _Sweet_ carb job make it all very forgiving.

-But-

I can't get them both to open evenly!

Can get them to both open evenly whan cold, then they start opening one first when hot!

I get them right, and they don't stay that way after a drive!!

Trying to get some miles on it first,
Then put the wideband on it, and give it the whole sync/set-up...

_But_ How the Fusk can you do that,
When you can't get the linkage to open them both up evenly!?!?!?

AAAIIIGGHHHH!!!!!

Can't even tell you how _Sick_ it makes me to pull away gently from a stop,
on TWO cylinders like some damn lawn mover!!

Help me, SlowTwitch, You're my only hope...

Oh, and it seems that if you were going to make/sell these,
There are a lot more T1 people out there..
But - We'll say, for a Cali Style setup - using a T1 fan housing... T4 of course :)

It might be best to make a section of hard line, bent into a "J",
to make the turn as the cable comes thru the shroud and turns to the left carb.
Perhaps hard line clear thru,
to the cable sheath over the tranny?

Also,

It is nice to have the carb bodies 'flipped' like mine,
Aren't the BAS manis made like that, too?
It's nice to be able to reach the screws, and have room in an early compartment.
Maybe for the flipped setup, you could run the wheels on the front (of car) side?
Stealth-style, hidden up there?
Then the cables could run... Hhhmmmmm... :?
Otherwise, the carb mounting "F" bracket would have to be done differently,
Wider, to grab the farther-apart bolts on the opposite side of the carb.

Gotta just love a guy like me,
Who shows up before you are even ready,
And throws this wicked twist on the whole thing.

I'm going to take a shot at casting some of those F brackets, but with sexy curves and such. Still need to source some pullies tho, who wants to build me some?

all this talk but I never made my choke work on my dells...

Hi Pete,I've been watching this linkage come together with much anticipation and then disappointment when it seemed to have been taken over by bigger fish. But it appears that things are back on track. Can you put me down for one?I've gone thru the same crap as everyone else when it comes to hex bars and when your car is an oval things seem to get even more difficult.Getting full throttle is next to impossible. I know there are a few guys here in Australia just itching to throw some cash your way.Let me know when I can get one of your linkages.

First of all, I want to thank everyone for the positive and supportive responses. I have made a few sets, of the cable linkage, in my basement shop. But, with the equipment I have , it's a very labor intensive process. So, I am currently waiting on quotes from a couple of shops to have these made in quantity. I'm hoping to hear something by this weekend. I'm also going through the patent process. This is taking up a bunch of time. So, lease be patient....I want these out there as bad as you guys..

Btw, here is a sneak peek of a ghia, that has been photographed for a future Hot VW's and maybe Volksworld and Ultra VW....

Thanks

Looking awesome! Can't wait for this. Damn hex bar has always been an issue for me because it changes based on temperature. There are good linkages out there, but nothing as versatile as this. (Or easily adjustable apparently  )
