I honestly thought of something similar, but stood off from the top......

Exactly, but I want to incorporate the stock hinges, and avoid holes.....if possible. I do have another lid though too.

Ok Hot Rod, if you want to make it fit with the small stand offs you need to first get a carcraft manifold or mill the oil jacket off yours, then you need to rotate your alternator counterclockwise so the wire posts face the distributor cap. Then you can lower the turbo down. You then need to get your header done and mark the manifold so you can mill the compressor housing inlet off and mill a 7 deg angle on the manifold to get the carburator going slightly down hill. Then weld the manifold on.

Not at all just a few mods of what you already have. Your up pipe can be fixed and a little machineing is all.

It's all tig'd now, and being ceramic coated as we speak.... It's not that easy at this point. It's ok..... I can make it work. It's not that bad.

Re: Six-seven Turbo Projekt
I had a similar problem in the early stages of my build....

I ended up pulling the blue pressure tube section out and remade the manifold to turbo section.... Bolted it up solid.... Gave me loads more room.... Now I run conventional hood standoffs...

It fits...... Just!

That would make the biggest difference for me for sure. I'll have to consider that, I just don't like permanent set ups liek that, it makes any later changes hard to do. Is it ok to weld to the turbo like that while it's assembled? I would think it would be ok, but you never know. I'll kick that around......good idea. Thanks.

Re: Six-seven Turbo Projekt
It's bolt on.... I made a flange that was welded to the carb manifold and bolted to the turbo.... Easy for me.... Not so for you... You'd have to weld to the turbo housing.... I think Shagg, Marty and a few others do it that way on most applications... Pulling it down to do that is pretty easy on most turbos.... A hand full of bolts and it pulls straight off the cassette... Just make sure you have is marked up correctly before you tear it down....

Re: Six-seven Turbo Projekt
Man, that would suck to ruin a compressor housing by welding on an intake at the wrong angle.

It would. I got to thinking..... If I go EFI next yr, I'll be shooting myself in the foot making too many changes now.

You can always use the side draft as a TB, and put a TPS on it.

Another option I've considered is weld on aluminum Vband flanges between the two.
