aircooled WBX 2546ccm
Hi Folks,
i want to show you my 2.6 Typ5 Project. My goal is a powerfull street-engine for more or less everyday life.
I want to use:
-New 103mm AA Typ4 pistons and cylinders (modified)
-New 76,4mm Vw crank
-lightened and polished Vw piston-rods
-New Limbach heads with 42mm and 37mm valves
-Cam (German 328°, 11.8mm lift) and lifters (56g) by Jürgen Nowak (don't own them yet)
-Titanium springretainers
-Straight cut cam-gears (Steel)
-lightened flywheel (3kg)
-EFI --> Megasquirt
Exhaust and fan: don't know yet
Here are some pics:

I'm looking forward to your opinions and advice !

exactly !ruffbiker wrote:limbach heads come in wbx headstud pattern as standard
Limbach is a german producer of aircraft engines, based on Typ1/Wbx.fastback wrote:where cani find more info on these heads??
They are very close to Type1 Heads. Double ignition is applicable, maybe i wanna use it.

I added some new pics:

I polished the Case, so the heat stays in
instead of warming up the engine bay. Polished surfaces emit much less heat than rough ones !
Of course it looks great too !
The next thing i'll do, is to work on the inside of the case, to minimize the loss of power
caused by the airflow. In German we call it "Pumpverluste".
Greets !

I don't know if it works, but its a try !

Re: aircooled WBX 2546ccm
Why do you want the heat to stay in the case ?
Won't that increase oil temperatures ?

Re: aircooled WBX 2546ccm
You're right, but if the oil cooler is big enough that shouldn't be a problem.
The colder intake air is, the more power you get !
I noticed, that my 1678ccm with 40 Drla ran best in cold, dry weather !

Re: aircooled WBX 2546ccm
Don't worry too much about it BBB
BTT!
Now that I think of it, the wbx-air heads that Gerd Weiser has/had, were Sauer(&Sohn?) heads, not Limbach.
Not much usefull info, but I am back on topic
