6x15 porsche wheel + 165/50 15 as a sparetire on a 72' bug?
Does 6x15 porsche wheel fit to sparetire space on a standard 72' beetle? I can get two porsche wheels cheap, so i am thinking to use as spare tire etc. Tire choice would be 165/50 15.

Generally they wont fit
Maybe a 165/50 will but it is not a nice fit otherwise
The trouble is that the tyre is too fat where it needs to slide under the petrol tank bit
I run 16" and use a Porsche space saver.
As said these are 16" - but i am sure you can get then in 15" in the same style

Because it thins down at the outer siameter of the tryre it "just" slips in uner the tank

I tried to fit 6x14 steel wheel and it did fit barely, but it is possible to make few millimeters more room. Car is not superbeetle, just std beetle with IRS rear suspension in a future.
I am thinking also 155/60 R15, is it too narrow to be fitted to 6" rim?
I found these tires from german tiresales called delticom, here in finland it is www.rengas-online.com , USA it is www.tires-easy.com
Here is a 165/50 R15 installed to a 7x15 rim, maybe this size tire wont be too fat on a 6" rim.

Obviously that tire doesn't fit, hence the name tyrestretch. It would still stretch a tad on a 6" but remember stock was 165sr15 (165/80/15) on a 4.5" rim. I have some 165/45/15 on 5 spokes (15x5.5) & they seem to just fit.-Alex77- wrote:I tried to fit 6x14 steel wheel and it did fit barely, but it is possible to make few millimeters more room. I have read from various places that you can put 165/50 15 up to 6" wide rim. Even Scandinavian STRO regulations say that you can put this size tire 4.5"-6" rim.
155/60 15 can be put to 3.5-5.5" rim according this.

It doesnt matter if ride is tough with this size tire and wheel, its just a sparetire
Here in finland the stock late model size has always been 155R15 on 4.5" wide wheel. Some small cars, like fiat punto, vw polo, have 155R13 tire on a 5" wide wheel.
