Hello. I am in the process of gathering all clutch parts for my type 4 4 speed. I compared a beetle (can't remember which year) T-O bearing, and it looked like it would fit with a bit of cutting to fit the clips. I was wondering what everyone on the forum did ( if another vehicle shares bearings for example).
Thanks alot,
Braden

The type 4 bearing should be relatively common. I think it fits some of the busses and even a WC car or two. Where are you located?
If you go to rockauto
http://rockauto.com/ and look at a 1972 411...it has a clutch release bearing part #614418 (timkin). It is $33.79. Great price...good brand.
Then...just for the heck of it...go to look at a 1976 transporter with a 2.0L. It shows a picture that is identical to the 411/412 bearing (perhaps a slight difference in clips)....with a part #614015....also for $33.79. My bet is its teh same bearing. I have a dim memory of using one. At $33.79...don't screw around with anything from a type 1. Ray
