My BAJA is getting a Little work done to HimUpdate 14.08.09

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Hi Guys.

Just a quick update, We are hoping to have the BAJA up and on the road this weekend, Last weekend after an oil change and oil pump rebuild and cleaning out the carby I started the engine after sitting for 10 months, happy to report it started straight up and idled smoothly.

We have to repack and clock the CV, and put the rear cage and radiator on and replace the master Cyl after having it rebuilt and we have to put a kit through both front calipers.

So hopefully photo's and Videos Sunday night.

Ok we had a set back on the weekend, after putting the new master cyd , front calipers and rear will cyd , new braided brakes lines we went for a drive the only thing was we forgot to take the guy out of the gearbox with his angle grider it was do loud so put another one in much quieter but the gears not much good so a Mate is owed a rebuilt gearbox from a mate of ours so he is going to do the box for me and I will get one later for my mate.

So that is what we are up to from the next month.

Hi Guys

Well the BAJA hit the road this week, I was able to find a gearbox to use while the other one is gets rebuilt and the locker fitted.

We went for a drive to the spit on the Gold coast and played in the soft sand next to the road.

So far all has gone well with nothing falling off.

This Sunday we are heading up to the state Forest Just North of Brisbane to play and see what if anything needs adjusting on the Baja.

here are a couple of Photo's from last weekend.

Thanks

I always wanted to put cones on the front of the filters and paint them up like a Missile, but she who must be obeyed threatened to take to me with a knife if I did

Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.

yep me too.

It a joke about my mate and me being the dodgy brothers workshop.
Everytime we do something on a car we make the same comment that how surprised we are that nothing fell off.

Howdy

Well the BAJA had its first bush bash last Sunday, I was very happy with the day no major troubles just the rubber in one of the new shocks on the back gave way so a quick fix and all good for the rest of the day.

The only I found that needs work on is the nut behind the wheel, I got the bug stuck 2 times 1st picked the wrong line and got caught on a rock going trough a creek and the 2nd time was to heavy with the right foot to much wheel spin and slid off a track and had to get pulled back on. Ah well I will learn the more I go off road.

But a great day was had by all.

here are a few pics.

You boys down under seem to like the same style and location of your air cleaners. Nice rides both!
