Hello STF! My name is jason and ive been a STF lurker for a few months now (well since ive started to get back into itching my vw craving). Started out building a street baja for my first car with my dad back in highschool which i still have. It is a 66 baja with a 1915cc, turbo, fuel injected, license suspender high school sweetheart of mine. After 12 years with it ive decided its time to start a more of an offroad ride.
Though long and hard about converting it but i came across a sawsaw'd 70 baja project for cheap so ill keep my 66 for my kids. Which my first one will be here anyday now.
Now after seeing alot of your builds here it really puts mine to shame. Its kinda a low/mid budget build here. I figured i could just upgrade as time goes on. I just want to get it on the dirt so i can go from there. Ill post some pics of my highschool sweetheart first then show ya what ive started on my build so far.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.
Thanks for your comments. The engine and turbo will be coming out of my blue one. As far as bracing the front beam there will be a lot to come, I just started with the bottom supports to get something in there to hold the beam while I installed the cage. What I'm working on now is supporting the top of the beam from the cage, just haven't taken pics of that step since that is where I'm at with the car.
Yup-yup, Welcome to STF from me too. You have accomplished the hardest part of posting........, the pics. We can't get enough of 'em. Its hard to get acvw,s out of the blood once the're in. Good luck.

Well i worked on it a little bit today after work. Ive been trying to get out there any chance i can because I wont have much time once this baby comes lol.
so i added the top bracing for the beam, but there still will be alot of diagonal bracing all over to add more strength.
The engine will be my 1915cc with a T04 turbo and fuel injected. The reason I went with the larger size turbo for that engine was for the fact it was a daily driver at the time. So i could be cruising 65mph at 1-2lbs boost. If I floored it from cruising it would spool up about 3000 rpm once i shifted. From a dead stop I could not tell any lag at all since 1st gear went by so fast anyway, by the time It went to 2nd I was pushing 10lbs so the next 5 came fast.
As far as the trans I will be having in the new build im going with an 091 bus trans with type 2 cv's for now. Now i have a question, will I be ok with the stock 091 for now or should i save up and send it off to get beafed up? Anyways thanks again for your comments, any suggestions dont hold back.
that is one mean sounding motor, i am jealous. and I was just messing with you on the beam mounts, I'm sure that they would have been fine.

Things are rarely just crazy enough to work, but they're frequently just crazy enough to fail hilariously.
the baby seat will be in there in time. I still have to prove to the wife that this ride will be safer to drive than most everyday vehicles. I messed up one night watching off roading videos with alot of crashes, rolling, and all that while she walked by and saw a few of them, so she thinks that will happen to me
! Yup we need more pics and specs, we are a demanding bunch here but well worth having around.
