What are your thoughts regarding billet wheels on a German Looker? I recently removed my 18" Porsche turbolook replicas & put them on my wife's 57 speedster replica. Instead of going with another set of replica wheels I'm considering a set of BONSPEED billet wheels. I occasionally go to some streetrod shows & billet wheels are awesome & $$. Also some of the Airwilde cars I've seen up close look pretty good with billet wheels.
The BONSPEED wheels can also be color matched to your cars ext. color. I'm thinking of powder coating the spokes silver or gray & leaving the lip polished to give the wheel a 3-piece look of a BBS or other high dollar alloy. This would give me the look of a $$ alloy that would look at home on a GL rather than a streetrod. I can also have them built in the width and offset I need to get a perfect fit(18"x9" rears & 18"x7"fronts). If I can find a distributor discounting these wheels at about $100/wheel below the retail price of about $500-$600/wheel then I might take the leap.
Billet Wheels on a GL??

As long as they are light, any wheel will do as far as I'm concerned. I just don't like heavy billet wheels, they may be strong but they are seriously hindering performance and drivability.

Here is the wheel(Delta)
http://www.newstalgiawheel.com/wheel_de ... t3=1042105
Imagine this wheel with the spokes powder coated in silver, black or charcoal grey, or even colored matched to your cars exterior color with a 1-2" polished lip.
Also checkout the Bonspeed wheel called the "Big Block". It looks identical to the Porsche 2-liter alloy used on many callooks excepts its a billet offered in custom dia. and widths. This wheel would look good color matched on a early bus.
My last set of wheels(now on the wife's speedster) were 18x9.5" and 18x8". If I go with the billets I will have them built in a 9" and 7" width which should make the car more driveable with less clearance issues. My only issue would be whether the wheels can be built in the Porsche pattern(5x130mm) or if I will have to have them built in a Chevy pattern and get custom adapters.
