Baja squareback

Time to start a build thread for my sons squareback. Its a 69 that when we bought it, it was so low, it scraped the trailer bringing it home. Looked cool, but that was my style many years ago. Raised it up, not really sure from stock where we are, because of the lowering by the PO. Car runs great with the stock motor, really nice original interior, and no noticeable wreck damage, although some bad rust in front fenders and cowl area. Bought some white spokes with bigger tires, but started thinking about the class 11 bug I still want someday. Have 4 30x9.50 mud terrains, mounted them up, and it looked good, except you couldn't turn the front at all. Decided to start trimming to make it drive without a body lift. Took a piece of the pan out, moved the fenderwell back, put some new metal in to create the fenderwell, and repair some of the rust. Turns almost all the way. Just need to trim the rear to clear, and the left side will be done

Baja4, it's looking good. We've swapped a bit of conversation already. As you know, I'm building one with my kid, too. Here's his (so far):

If your baja is any indication of how that build is going to turn out, it's going to be AWESOME! Keep us posted.

If I ever need a station wagon, I hope it can be a squareback, they are just so cool. Or should I say station wagen? Looks great! Keep us updated!

Trimmed the back fender some. Looks like I'll need to twist the back up one more notch. Like the looks of the hubcaps, finishes it off. Sorry about the fuzz.

Thanks for the good comments guys. Hey 57, been watching your updates on So-Cal site, looking really good. That body lift is quite an undertaking, you guys are doing a great job. You must never sleep, between building, runs, making videos, very busy. Any progress lately?

Topmonkey, 7-1/2 acres of our own dirt in Colorado. My son rides his dirtbike in our yard.

Yeah... I spent an hour or so on in last weekend, but not much. I bent both main roll cage hoops. It's getting the full cage treatment soon.

Hello Denny, We are about 15 miles east. Close enough if we need something, but far enough away to stay out of the crowds. I will admit, it's way to many miles away from the desert. Heading to Havasu and Parker this Weds. to see my parents, and watch the race to get my desert fix. Did you're wife have a sister in this area?

What is the latest on this. doing anymore cutting or lifting? How is the visibility on that, have you brought it out yet? I would like to do a Ghia or Wagen but not sure about the visibility. Like to see more of it.

For some reason it looks like a small Grand Wagoneer to me. Something about a wagon with beefy tires. Kick anus!
