When I win the lotto, I want a tube framed, mid-engined turbo T4 powered one, with one of Jakes big 4s. In Red. Has to be red

zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.

The sun would probably do it for you, over time...david58 wrote:But in the right light it will still be pink.
Real Men could drive a pink car, and Like It
(Esp if it had 300HP and weighed 1200 lbs...)

Your pains have paid off,
I always tell people that even a bone stock VW based kit car doesnt have the scream "I'm a kit car" and wont with the proper attention to details,
I am into the Lemans look too, I have a Laser 917 which is more or less a cartoon verison of the real deal then my new project is a Kellison GT40K body which looks far more like a real GT than other Early ones

Not mine but inspires me,
I will be going old school running a Mid engineering chassis,
It has the old corvair gear box and 327 but I bet I will someday step up to Porsche or Audi transaxle

I too love the laser 917's as well as the Kellison gt40's. My car is built on a fairly modified 73 super beetle chassis. The chassis has been lowered, 3"drop pans installed, disc brakes, extra steering dampening and bf goodrich radial t/a's....it handles a lot like my Dads' 92 Vette. Interior has gas actuated doors... dual 10" subs firing right into the backs of the seats and dual(4) infinity 6x9's...dual amps and 1000+watts...full color backup camera system....full set of stewart warner stage 3 gauges, and boy does it turn heads
I live in northern Wyoming and it looks quite out of place in these parts. My favorite line when people ask what it is..."What...don't you know a VW Beetle when you see one?"
By summer it will have a fuel injected, turbocharged, 2165 stroker, and the all up curb weight of this car... full of fuel... is 1600lbs. Should be a rocket

What a great looking car, I've always wanted one. Are those little lights your headlights? Just outta curiosity hows the visibility? some of these super car chassis are soo hard to drive in traffic.

Re: Mclaren M6gt
Thanks, I've got over 3000 hours over a ten year period putting this together. When I started this, I knew almost nothing of fiberglass, now I could be a Master Fiberglass and Epoxy Technician !
The headlights have always been an issue with me. I tried fabricating four different types over the years, from the 1970's style rectangular lamps, to McLaren quad bulb type, to single round 7 inch yellow lamps, then to pop up fiberglass buckets with white lamps ( which took over a year to construct, with several different style lifting mechanisms ) to finally, the modern projection lights that I Frenched into the body. I saw those on a Corvette a few years ago and knew I found my bulbs. Those are my low beams that are set into painted, carbon fiber buckets to disperse the heat. My high beams are on the very front. These have 3 bulbs in one glass lens lamp. Blue Projection, Yellow Fog and Amber Turn Signals. They are PIAA and the pair set me back $480. The first cheap pair I tried had plastic lenses and they were crap, and I spent almost 60 hours molding them into the front, only to find out they were not bright enough.
If you have a few hours or so, I can bore you to tears listening to everything that I have done building this car.

Hey, over the years, it kept me out of bars at night and out of trouble....
And yes, it does have some blind spots, but I've driven big trucks and race cars for many years.
What is behind you, does not matter, as long as you have the gas pedal mashed to the floor !!
