RexR Baja Build / Update Thread

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

rexr have you seen one these tube frames for the fiberglass bodies? I don't know if it would work on a baja but doesn't look to hard to build. if it would work you could build it with all the mods a guy wanted.

Just checked them out.. I don't think you could buy theirs and use it because a buggy is usually shortened..

It does look like a cool idea if your were building something from the ground up though..

I empathize.... I have a 9mth old... I really need to setup up a chair with toys in the garage, so I can get more done.

I found that out to. a glass buggy is usually shortened 14" I believe. I guess I will give it a try but with a-arm and 3 link rear. :) I have a full pan, I think it's a 69. link pin / swing axle. I don't know if I kept it but that bug had a gas fired heater, looked more like a bomb.

funbodies.com used to sell a long wheel base (stock VW) tube chassis/pan. I just looked at their web site which is in the process of being redone but I only saw wording that alluded to "your chassis."

I used to have pix of it and it looked OK. You might want to contact them, if you are interested, to see if they still make them.

I almost forgot, they also sell Baja plastic.

My opinion is worth slightly less than what you paid for it.
