HELP. Where can I find a cowl replacement panel.

Post by peryde »

I recently purchased a 1977 Convertible. Along with the usual rust in the floors and heater channels this one also has major rust in the cowl area. I have been all over the internet searching for a cowl replacment panel without any luck. Is there such a thing produced or will I have to cut the cowl from a donor car? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

this is one to be cut off a donor car...

What shape is yours in? OR what is your issue to fix

Thank you. Do you know if the donor car has to be a convertible, or is it OK to take one from a regular Super Beetle? Mine has a large rust hole in the lower windshield channel and in the cowl between the windshield and trunk.

wow..

That's a tough one.

As you're aware convertibles were kind of special order from VW.. they were sold to Karmann who finished them.

If it helps, I can take some measurements etc...

May help for us to see exactly the parts you're looking at replacing.

FYI. I found that the cowl piece from a Super is a perfect fit. I cut out a cowl from a -73 super donor and I am in the process of welding it in.

I looked... my clips looked different depending on the exact areas you're needing.
