i'm just pleased to have had the help from this forum!

there are are some great photographs on this thread that make me realize how amateur my reassembly is - i need all the help i can get!

i really am a dumbass

at the moment, i'm disassembling my tie rods and have a couple of questtions. i'll start a thread with them this morning.

There's a left hand and right hand piece. Different shapes. Glenn's third pic (middle of pic, upper) shows these two side by side.

The flaps assembly, the flaps assembly mounted to the fan shroud (note the large spring), and the thermostat itself:

The way it works is that the thermostat is a sealed metal can full of air, which expands when it warms up and contracts when it is cold. This expansion/contraction pushes & pulls on a linkage rod, which opens and closes the flaps.

Here are a few different shrouds.

Stock FI fresh air, Doghouse and velocity ring. Small oil cooler air slot

Puma non fresh air Doghouse. Large oil cooler air slot

Brazilia fresh air, Doghouse. Large oil cooler air slot
