Just responding to your camber question. We race formula vees with link pin front ends.To acheive negative camber we use offset bushings for the link pins that is drilled at an angle. In order to not get binding you have shave off material where the arm meets the spindle/bushing mount also have to play whith the sims to get the desired camber works great on our cars but i have never tried on a street beetle.

I will see what I can do, thanks for the info.
At the moment my car's camber is within stock specs and my other problems sorted out.
Don't know what I did. Removed, checked and replaced the suspension and raised it a bit.
Now I can start with other adjustments etc. and the rear suspension settings.
Thanks

dsatterly, so you have 2deg static camber? are you running lots of castor as well?
I'm interested coz I've set mine up with the max number of shims to give me a bit more camber, but it's still understeering bad at low speed. I race on dirt.

Hello.Yes it is 1.5 to 2 deg camber.I do not know the actual castor setting on the car i would guess about 2-3 deg. This is on a formula car.We run slick tires and still get some under steer on corners but usually can the car balanced with rear shock adjustments. We run what is called zero roll in the rear one coilover(penske triple adjustable) shock mounted horizontaly.I don't know if this would help at all in dirt.Hope this might help.Dave DDC Racing

Going Negative

Check out this Formula Vee site. They sell special linkpin offset bushings that allow shimming for negative camber without machining.
