Trey's 60 baja build thread

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

looks like it has 5/8" or maybe 3/4" of travel?
Those are definitely the 3/4" models. You just have to mount them really far inboard. Maybe we can come up with a new company slogan..."What we lack in length, we make up for in stiffness".

well, i spent a few hours working on the car yesterday. got the right rear trailing arm almost done. i just have to make a spring plate mount, weld that in, and do a shock mount. sure does look cool. i have never seen on in person that has wider arms, so im really liking it. the trailing arms are tubular, made by me. i got the one bolted on, everything mounted up to it, and did a lot of measuring. everything is looking good so far!

and yah, i forgot to take my camera with me, so yas gotta wait till next weekend for pictures

Looks good. Here is a idea on how I reinforced mine. The bump stop hits on the upper tube thus the gusset to prevent it from "taco"ing. The bearing carrier is also gusseted to prevent flex. At the height your at camber looks good. Good luck.
