The engine is still in so how can i start it with no ignition switch can i jump it at the coil or somthing I am new at the vw thing so any help would be cool, I checked the wiring diagrams on here but was pretty lost.

You're on the right track.

Hook up the Coil like this (your carb idle solenoid may be on the right
side instead of left side a s shown).

Next, hit the starter like this (MAKE SURE the shift is in NEUTRAL!!)

I would put a fuse in the pos side of the system too.

There are easier ways but that is probably safer.

My opinion is worth slightly less than what you paid for it.

have you removed the air cleaner and given it a few shots of "starting fluid?

The battery should be 14volts at rest.
