Building the Ultimate Killer Bee!

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

I made the mount out of a scrap knee gauge. It is aluminum and full of lightening holes! Looks pretty sweet. Should have it in the car and dancing by the end of the day.

Okay I am now prepared to officially celebrate. I wanted to wait a couple weeks to see if the car was actually gonna behave or if this was just another ploy by the car to fool me.

For those not following my exploits I ended up yanking a poorly installed 009 and putting in a new SVDA. For future reference if you have checked and double checked everything and everything looks good but your car still runs like crap, put the engine at TDC #1 and pop the dizzy cap. Look to see if the rotor points to plug wire #1 or somewhere in between. If it’s somewhere in between then that might be the problem.
[mythbusters] Well, there’s your problem. [/mythbusters]

I will try to get some pics of the Hula girl and mount. I was thinking for the video footage I would wait until The No coast meeting in Oklahoma. Otherwise it would just be me driving around town…(Yawn)

I want to thank all you guys for talking rationally to a psychotic madman bent on Baja destruction and bringing me back from the edge.

Shawn.. happy you're with us..

Most folks blame the car.. not the steering wheel nut... (before you).

Now onto your thermostat system.

Not great, but it has barely been above ten degrees. I guess if I ran down the street inhaling 10 degree air as fast as I could i might not run very efficiently either...

I noticed when it is close to zero the carb and intake frost up after driving three miles. This is after letting the car warm up for almost 25 minutes.

I have a used Tri-mill exhaust on its way with the ports for the heat risers. It has the “dual inverted V” muffler set-up. Hopefully this will help.

It was 17 degrees this AM and the car ran WAY better.
