Well....not much to talk about with the rail and it's suspension....it's pretty plane Jane. It's just a beam front that I made 12 inches over with + 4 arms, through rods and coil overs. Steering is an end-load (yes end-load) R&P. Your basic mail order hydraulic clutch/brake set...I think it CNC but do not remember. Beard seats, 5 point belts, satellite radio (Sirius). Rear is 4X6 Chromo arms with disc brakes. Rear suspension is SAW remote res, still running torsion bars. Going to coil over in the rear was high on my list...but to tell you the truth...it rides and lands so good it went down the list on things to do. Like I said...it's nothing out of the ordinary....it's pretty much ALL engine based. I could go on forever about what had been done to this engine...It's air-cooled...but to call it VW powered would be just flat out lying. There is not one single VW part in the engine. It's 143 cubic inch...or 2346cc that's an 84.5mm stroke with 94mm bore. The heads were a high buck after-market casting...which I pretty much welded up and totally redid with the idea of running a turbo. The path the air/fuel takes is quite a shot different than before...and the valve sizes...well...lets just say that many would call it "odd". It's a T4 hybrid turbo that is blow through. fuel system is a set of "special" 44IDF's with electronic enrichment circuit and a progressive Nitrous system. MSD boost retard, large inter-cooler, water injector...alright...that's enough...you get the picture...it runs pretty good.

Here is my baja. Not as cool as all your guys stuff.
Image
Image

The engine is a 1776
forged counter wighted crank
i beam rods
Fully ballanced
heads are ported 042 wth 40x35.5
Camshaft is by crane with similar specs a engle 110
single 36mm dellorto
Probably 70hp or so.

Trans is a 5 rib
Raise slightly and angled 8 deg
works fine except pops out of first gear sometimes.

Front suspension is stock balljoint
cut/turned 1/4"
slightly clearenced ball joints.
Stock shock mounts are cut off and shock is tied into cage
I have a Full 7" of travel up front! 2 down 5 up. Wahoo!!

The rear suspension is a little different,
It has an early bus torsion housing, Which makes the reartrack 6 " wider than stock.
Fully boxed stock trailing arms
Shock run to the cage
Type 4 CVs and bus axles
Have exactly 10" of travel in the rear 4 down 6 up.

I painted it to look military.
All tan is done with krylon ultra flat desert tan camo paint.
All the black is done with spray on bed liner.

Interior isnt done yet,
I have no idea what the seats are out of but they are cofortable
and have tons of adjustment, I just need to have them recovered.
Its getting cheap door panels and carpet in the back to keep some of the sound down, The frnt is getting rubber floor mats. I still need to get the rest of the glass in.

Future plans include 2x3 rear trailing arms and swapping to a 10" wider link pin with 2.5" longer arms.
