Progress on my own car this time
I took some time to work on my own car this weekend. Not that I really should have taken time away from other stuff but I want to go ride sometime in the next couple years. I got the rear suspension finished up although there are some braces to get done. I need to get the tranny mounted better then start on all the rest of the engine stuff.

I run mostly in the woods and I have found that the boxed arms are more durable against rocks. Bashing the lower tube on the tubular arms causes them to twist slightly. The boxed will get damaged but does not twist as easily.

No. Contrary to popular "wisdom" moving the tranny back actually limits travel in more cases than it fixes. By lining up the flanges closer, the axle plunge is increased requiring shorter axles and limiting travel. By having the wheel back too far the compound angle of the CV's would limit travel. The trick is finding the sweet spot that allows the stub axle to rotate around the tranny flange to limit axle plunge but not cause too much angularity at the CV's. I started with a 4x6 arm when I first wanted to go bigger and found the compund angle of the CV gave me less travel than a 4x5 arm.

I am running Fox coil-overs front and rear. The front has 10" non-res shocks and the rear 12" res shocks. For the 4x5's I should run 14" or 16" but it is what I have.Leatherneck wrote:What spring set up are you using front and back?

Mmmmmmm... A-arms.... You just need to bring your car and a barrel full of money and we can make it happen!tuff_puff wrote:whats that? ooooooooooooo i smell a-armsmaybee i will have to get a set of those 4x5"s to, i might try and talk lance out of his extra set.
what kind of travel numbers are you getting with the 4x5? are you running 14" or 16" shock?
The travel on the 4x5's is about 21" but useable travel is probably 18" before I bottom out.

Inquiring minds want to know, need specifics.Leatherneck wrote:What spring # and valves set-up?Crash wrote:I am running Fox coil-overs front and rear.
