WTD: Timing/ignition table for Megasquirt

Post by panel »

Who has an 8x8 or 12x12 ignition table that I can have a look at. Mine will end up being a bit different because it's boosted but I'd like to see where people are at as a base line to start with. Thanks!

heres on that I have saved to my usb drive. I dont think it current, but was used for a long time. I'll try to pull the current one off the car tommorrow. I did some playing around with timing at idle, and i think the divisions have changed also. When I have the time I will have the new engine tuned on a dyno.

Couple comments on this table:

If your turbo, make sure you have a failsafe column, such as 250 KPA so if you blow a hose and boost spikes your protected. Don't rely on something else to save you, the more protection you have the better.

Your retarding spark way too early, and by too much under boost. You can probably go to 3-5 psi before retarding at all.

150KPA is only 7 psi, you can probably still run >28 degrees timing here.

You should have 32 degrees in by 2500 rpm under no boost.

You can add more timing after you pass your torque peak, usually around 4500 rpm. You will see with a wideband that the motor uses less fuel as rpm's go up past that torque peak while still maintaining a constant AFR.

I would more evenly space the RPM increments. There's not much between 4500 & 6K. Way too much resolution between idle and 3K

Set an RPM and KPA setting for exactly where you engine idles. This way you can adjust it exactly with no interpolation.

Its not turbo.

You need the most resolution for advance. What would be the purpose of adding say 5000 or 5500 and setting it to 32.

Panel. This is an old map, and my laptop has taken a poop so im unable to do anything with it at this time.

So are you saying you could have your last RPM bin at around 3200 :?:

The purpose of adding those RPM's would be to adjust around the torque curve. Are your scales different for fuel?

If your NA, why so many settings above 100 KPA?

I'm not trying to pick on you, was just some general suggestions, they can be ignored.

Of course my scales are different for fuel. I think they are spaced every 400-500 rpm for lower rpms, then jump to about 700rpm up top.

That map was also for my 1915 that I intended on putting a turbo on. The map for my 2387 goes up to about 105kpa, and gives much better resolution where i drive.
