Sponge Bob Squarepants!

My four year old picked the name. I picked this car up in SanDiego,CA. According to the PO it is an old retired Baja 500 race car. I have no documentation but I have never seen a cage like this in a recreational car.

There are some other clues. If it wasn't a race car someone was pretty serious about their toy.

It has rack and pinion, widened front beam with adjusters and raised shock towers, heavy duty swing arms with triple shock mounts, Sand flyer swing axle, Full tube chassis with everything tied into the cage, including the 20 gallon fuel cell and Optima battery, full set of VDO gauges, removable steering wheel, suspension seats, four point harnesses, and a full Beetle sedan wiring harness.

When I put the 16" Centerlines on the car I have 15" of ground clearance. Unfortunately one of the front rims is bent so I put my steelies on till I can get them trued up. I plan to run 31" tall tires all around.

61 is a great year for a baja...

They must have driven it inside out... I'm always amazed at how the insides look more beaten than the outsides.

See ya finished the rest of the paint. Looks real good. Show some pics of the suspension and engine. I am going to have to get me one of those Baja things yet.

Engine is a stock 1600 DP from Chirco in AZ. Tri-mill with Supertrapp are the only “soup up” parts.

The front suspension is a fully gusseted linkpin with Bilstein shocks.

That is a front bumper that would work on my rail that thing has some teeth to it.

I have a Funco SS1 style racer that i made street a street car (got to love florida) the history i have of the car it was raced all over florida since the 70's and parked in 03' . when i drive it i turn more heads the a Hooters girl ok mabe not that much .
It's what you learn after you know every thing that counts.

Go ahead and use the teeth. We live far enough apart there is little danger of showing up for the party with matching skid plates... :lol:

back on the subject...

my favorite episode of spongbob squarepants is the one where he trys to pass his drivers license test from ms. puff. he has a hidden intercom system under his cowbow hat so his buddy patrick can tell him what to do......

Kids TV got watered down after PeeWee was caught in the FLA movie theater.

My favorite episode was where Darla and PeeWee were having a slumber party --- Cowboy Bob didn't have PJs, turns out he sleeps Malibu... the masqued inuendos were entertaining.
