Yes, and thats what I'am building now on a 2 liter basis:bj wrote:would the injectors/fuel rail fit in the engine compartment if they were on the manifolds near the head?

I have adapted modern injectors to the stock 914 manifolds and the Jenvey fuel rails:

just have someone weld on the bungs and make a some sort of hold down for the rails.
Easier said than done.. I have all the special injector boss tooling and it's still a bitch, especially engineering the fuel rail retention device. Using the Jenvey fuel rails would make it easier but still difficult.
Placing the injectors in this position in a Beetle engine bay with standard manifolds will yield no room and make it a nightmare to do a plug change, it's even tight in a 912E engine bay!

I will look it up for you tonight.MASSIVE TYPE IV wrote:Wally,
whats the part # of those injectors and the lb/hr?? I need to do the same thing right now and cannot find the right size (physically) injector....
I will use not these pictured, but green ones from a VW Golf II(Rabbit in the US) G60 model and have the high impedance (-/+ 16 Ohms), thats why I wanted them also as the DTA computer only likes higher resistance injectors.
The G60 (1,8 G-lader engine) has 160 hp and as our engines run richer, those injectors should be about 'right' with some margin left.
The ones in the picture are new and are from a Ford Escort 18, 16V. Those only have 167 cc/min at 2 bar (30psi), so with the 'right' fuel pressure (3 bar, 45 psi), they should flow quite a bit more, but I am not trying that at first. The green G60 ones are going in firstly.
Here's a link how I adapted the modern injectors to the old-style D-jetronic) injectors seat opening in the manifold:

G60 injectors: Bosch-Nr.: 0280 150 905
VW-Nr.: 037906031D
They flow 280 cc/min at 3 bar
and are very common on german ebay
be aware that the Jenvay fuel rail fits nicely, buts its just a tiny little out of wack with the fuelrails openings, but that won't effect sealing at all.
