Auto Trans drain pan

Post by Bowman74 »

So after replacing the gasket on my auto trans drain pan again I have come to the conclusion that it is probably warped and a new gasket just isn't going to do it (the area around each of the holes is warped as I suspect a previous owner overtightened it instead of replacing the gasket). Does anyone know a place where I can get a new drain pan for the auto tranny? I know it is the same as some bus auto trannys but no parts places I have seen have just the drain pan for sale. Any ideas/sources?

Thanks,

Kevin

Set the rim of the drain pan on a block of wood and beat the metal around the holes back down using a hammer. You may also want to use the largest OD flat washers on the pan bolts that you can get to fit in the available space.

You might also read this post that was in the Type 3 forums.

I found this to be good info as my pan gasket seems to be leaking.
