Hi.
I know that this has been answer before but I cannot seem to solve the problem (stock FI 75 L-jet). So I am seeking help . Here goes the symptoms;
1) Car idles at high rpm
2) If I turn the idle screw inwards on the TB (well far inwards, beyond normal) it drops the idle. However if depress acclerator ,or if drive off,rpm increases and stays high.Does it mean that the leak if thers is one will be before the trottle valve, since I can drop the idle with the idle screw?
3) fuel pressure shows a constant 30 at idle.
Tried the following: Changed decel valve -------no difference
Check for leaks --------- non found (so far)
Trottle switch appears good --- no conductivity at
closed trottle (pin 2 +18 bridged with ohm
meter).Conductivity at full open (pin 3+18)
Anymore leads on this problem is welcome
Regards
fast ldle after depressing the accelerator or after driving

Maybe there is a problem with your timing or your vac advance distributor. If the distributor is getting hung up in the advance side then your car will idle high.
The mass air flow sensors can gum up and stick or have trouble closing all the way. Check and clean your mass air flow sensor make sure it is closing all the way.
A vac leak usually causes FI systems to idle low.
What about the idle stablizer/ pump that is located at the front of the engine between the V-belt. I wonder if that could cause the same problem?
Good luck!

Nope...you have a vacuum leak. That can also be construed as a sticking TB. Next time it does this..get out and push teh throttle closed hard against its stops...and see if it drops. If so, then there may be a rough spot in the bore sticking the plate, or the cable is gummy.....or the most common one....slack worn in the washers and plates that are around teh throttle shaft and are part of the postive spring return system for the TB. You can also have leaky throttle shaft seals.
On some models of L-jet...if you have a TPS that has a shut off swir\tch at the closed position, you can be out of adjustment...either due to TB not closing completly or the switch being loose. Ray

Well thanks guys,
Not sure what was the problem but it appears that some of all the mentioned could have been the problem.I replaced the trottle valve switch (just because the symptoms only appear when I depress the gas and I had one handy) Bottom line it was trial and error once again. However because I had to remove a lot of parts to get to it I obviously cleaned the resealed the various parts on the way ,including the trottle body seal, cold start injector, rubber boot etc.
It appears that many times problems crop up there are no clear,or precise solutions. This makes fixing of problems very fustrating, especially if yopu are a daily driver and only have a weeken to come up with a solution. It tookme the better part of a day to come up with a fix to my problem this time.Is this the case with others? May be we need to compile a list of symptoms vs solutions, thougt I doubt this is possible.
Anyway I am on the road again,so expect more questions.
Regards
