Couple questions

Post by Guest »

Hey everybody, starting to work on my fuel stuff. Here's the deal:
1776 turbo/megasquirt
255 walbro
New stock tank ('70)

What I'd like to know is if my idea for a surge tank would work, and if there's room for such a thing.
I would make a small aluminum tank (1/2 quart volume or so) where all the fittings would be machined into (inlet from tank, outlet, fuel return, etc.).

I'd like to keep it close to the tank (and under it) so I don't have to get a second low output pump. Is there any room available something like this? Should I retap the bottom of the tank for a bigger line to the surge tank? And if I need to burp air out of it (equalize pressure), can I bring a small line up to the stock charcoal filter outlet?
Here's a drawing of what I'm thinking.

If this doesn't make any sense, please point me in the right direction, thanks!

Where do the two red lines go? From the looks of it (to me) it looks like your fuel filter is after the pump...shouldn't it be before it?
