Coolant Lines

Post by bt2020 »

Finally got enough nerves to cut my tunnel and run copper piping for my coolant lines. I will weld the holes after I test for leaks.

Now the work begins...

NICE! :P

What size pipes are you running and where did you get them?

Nice! What size pipe is that - looks huge? Are you going to run your fuel lines down the tunnel as well?

It will not interfere. I took out the heater cable conduits and there is about an inch of space or so between the pipes and shift rod.

I will probably run my fuel lines along the tunnel on the passenger side.

i ran mine down the tunnel also. i ran them on top of eachother on the left side of the tunnel, passenger side. i also pulled the heater cable tubes, haha, not as easy to pull as i had thought, but they came out eventually.

now that i look closer i can see how you got away with running it on the bottom, i didnt see that the pipes came out the side before the tranny, cool setup.
My pipes poke out side by side next to the passenger side ebrake cable tube, next to the tranny.

I will run a 12A with a Racing Beat Holly carb Kit. It is already installed on the chassis.

I am using a standard 1981 -1985 RX 7 radiator. I started to fit it up front. See images below. The fan is from a 1998 Eagle Talon. Hope it works.

Pretty cool on the 'coolant' line routing, nice work ...

Questions please :

1. Did you use a particular type of solder to seal up the pipes.

2. Protecting against corrosion, are the pipes wrapped or cushioned with something to prevent the copper from corroding ( i heard this is a problem ) and from rattling in the tunnel ?

I used your regular plumbing solder (Home Depot). The pipes are clamped to the chassis and are not rattling.

On the nose of the Ghia, are you just allowing for Air to come into the Fresh Air intakes and also the hole near the horns? Or have you cut additional openings?

What about hot air Exhaust for the Rad? What are you doing behind it to exit the air out? Would love to see that as I am still pondering how to do my setup when I get there.

The front of the car was all rusted so I decided to experiment with it.
