blow thru or draw

How can you tell if a turbo is for draw thru or blow thru.I have an IHI turbo 51T-21 and was planning on using it as a draw thru on my 1776.Will this turbo work?? thanks

That can be a draw back on the draw thru...The IHI has come with the mechanical seal required for an upstream setup. But unless you take it apart and check the seal...you may not know until it's SMOKIN'.... To3 is you best bet as far as i know all chrysler and early ford used the Garrett carbon seal ... Early Saab and volvo too... Just slap it on and try it if it smokes coud be the wrong seal or a bad seal...Heck ya probably paid less than fifty bucks for it anyway,right?

I have two turbos, one off of an 1800 Subaru, the other off of a 2300 XR4Ti. Are the designed to be draw thru turbos. Not getting a lot of help from others I have spoken with. Thanks.

Actually this turbo was free so if it does'nt work "oh well" no money lost
