Odd question. Material for the VW script welding....

Post by Ephry73 »

I have a VW-1600 script that I would like to tweak and turn into a VW-1900. I have a type 4 1900cc engine that is in the Ghia already. Instead of the Volkswagen script, I want to change it to that one. What rod can or should I use for the welding? Can i even welded? how should I proceed?

Thanks in advanced.

Is it aluminum or pot metal that was plated with chrome? That would make a big difference in how to approach it ... neat idea

I like the idea of having the custom script, while still retaining the original look. The only thing is that the script I have is from a type 3. Other than that, it should look pretty cool.

Thanks for all the tips and info.
