i've tried searching but most responses seem to be for type 1. for a daily driver (fastback) in high altitude what would be a reliable, decent motor. i have brand new webber 34's that i want to use. 1641 , 1679, 1776?
1679 would be better for longevity than 1775 but if that's not going to be enough power for you consider the 1800 (88x74). Machine-in 88s are the thickest cylinders commonly available, the pistons only come in "A" compression height but the stock heater boxes aren't really good for a much larger engine anyway; a 74 stroke takes little (if any) clearancing and about .100" barrel spacers so the engine stays close enough to stock width that sheetmetal and exhaust system still fit OK.
i do plan to do a t4 in there but for now i really need to get it on the road and want to use the parts i have. will the dual 34's be enough for a 1800? that's the only sticking point is i have brand new webbers i want to use.
A `74 bus has an 1800 and the factory put 32/34PDSITs on it. I've run 34ICTs and Kadrons back-to-back on a 1679 and the performance was nearly identical. They should work fine on an 1800.
