Does anyone here have any experience or information on repairing the Ljet ECU? I have 4 of them. One works, it came with my bug when I bought it a few years ago. But it makes a buzzing sound when I am coasting in first gear, between about 5 and 10 mph. So last year I found a good deal on a box of used Ljet FI parts in eBay. I think I paid about 8 bucks for a box with a FI wiring harness, ECU, airflow meter (doesn't work), thermo time switch, Auxilary air valve, distributor and an air cleaner.
Not a bad deal. I was wanting to get a spare ECU, as mine makes that buzzing sound sometimes. Well I put the ECU from eBay in and it worked great for about 2 weeks. Then one day on my way home from work, the engine started missing like crazy. I got home and put my old ECU back in and the car ran fine.
Recently I purchased two used ECU"s from a guy for about 20 bucks. He didn't know if they worked. Well I just tried them out, and they do the same thing that the eBay ECU did. The engine starts fine but misses like crazy and stalls when I put the car in first gear and try to drive. Put the old ECU back in and it runs like a top again.
I'm thinking that all of my spare ECU's are suffering from the same problem, whatever that may be. The inner workings of the ECU seem to be very simple. So I was hoping that someone out there might have information on what goes bad and how to fix it. I have a feeling it's a $2 dollar or less part that needs replacing in them. The remanufactured ones sell for an arm and a leg.
Any help is appreciated!

Where are ya? I'm in the San fran area. there is an FI factory/shop/repair facility down the street from me. They have a website. Try fuel injection corporation and hit search. They have a place down south and one here in Livermore. They can test and repair just about any FI component. I came across them because i ordered an AFM from bus boys in Redding and it neeeded tweaked. I looked them up and found out they're in my town. They fixed my AFM as warranty and I got a tour of the facility. Yea for me.
