Thats a very broad question...
I will still say that there is NOT a single conventional lifter available that is an absolute guarantee not to fail at the present!
Parkerizing has helped with CERTAIN cam tapers and base circles but I feel that its just a cure for a symptom and not an overall cure for the root of the problem. I am only offering Parkerized lifters because they have the lowest failure rate of anything I have tested so far.
I have made some changes to camshaft billets and convinced Web Cam to change to another Billet that I stumbled upon to try and increase compatibility with the lifters available these days. They are now grinding ALL my cams on these new billets that we have noticed alot less wear with in the last 3 weeks of testing.(their is a price difference with the new billet being used) All the cams that I have in the store now that are ground on the old Billets are not going to be sold until I do more test work. We are awaiting a huge load of cams on the new billets next week, as well as about 100 lifters with every coating and process known to man done to them..
There will never be any cam and lifter guaranteed not to wear or fail prematurely and none of my cams or lifters have a warranty except those that are ran with our Ceramic lifters and our Web Camshafts on the newer billets.
The test work has proven alot!

I am building almost the exact same engine as mike373 and had repeatedly asked for a cam recommendation, but got none! Maybe nobody is willing to do so because of the number of variables involved. Maybe nobody wants to risk tarnishing their reputation for fear they might say wrong. Maybe the lifter/cam problem is the reason. I don't know, but what I do know is I posted in this forum because it's about the only place I can get honest answers to specific question from those with the know-how and hands-on experience. I assume mile373 posted here for the same reason.
The right cam is the last part I need before I can start to assemble my engine. Without it my project is dead in the water. I'm sick of looking at this pile of parts and need to finish the puzzle. So please, someone, Jake, step up and lets hear from you! If you need more info on my engine, I'll gladly send it. If you don't want to post a recommendation here, then we can PM.
Come on, I can understand if you don't want to say what brand, but at least recommend the grind specs. Then it's on us, not you, to pick the specific brand and their grind.

This is what I must have to pick a cam for anyone:
Altitude you operate at
CR that the engine will have (NOT A GUESS)
Head specs (flow data is the best)
Carbs used
Rod ratio
The powerband you desire
Gearing
How heavy is the vehicle??
Without these I can't do anything. Now that I have the store open and have my line of cams ground especially for us by web, I can make a recommendaation of one or maybe two of these grinds.
I will only have descriptions of these cams online in the store, but no measurements are available to a potential customer until I receive an order. The cam is the key to the TIV engine- NOTHING is more important!
If I seem a little stand offish on the subject its because the data on these cams has taken us years to derive from dyno tests and practical applications, I can't lose that edge! (especially on line with data that all the "other TIV" builders could see easily.
I know my cams, but I don't really no anyone else's because it has been so long since I used anything else. I can't make a recommendation for them and it be considered correct.
I will be adding a service to the site later called "configuration service" and its basically for guys that haven't bought all their parts from me but want help. If you spend over 1K and want a cam at my store I'll help you choose the best one for free.....
The whole reason I opened the store was to create a one stop shop for all the parts needed, with known compatibility and competitive prices. FYI camshafts are one of only 4 products that other TIV sources beat me on the price of,( they only have the catalogged Web cams, no where near my selection) everything else in that store is the same or cheaper than the biggest competitor.
I'll help you, if you help me- open the wallet.

Hey Jake....my wallet is open..... I plan on buying my cam, lifters, oilpump, bearings, and pistons from you. I just need to know which of your cams to buy before I drop the money.
I will be running stock 71mm crank, stock 2 liter rods, 96mm kb pistons, 9to1 compression ration, stock 2liter heads.....I am looking for powerband around 2500-5000. I will not be revving it much past 5500.
This is for a 914.
Thanks,
Mike
