Let's say theoretically that they are "successful" in their endeavors...then what? "Congratulations, you've destroyed the entire internet as well as everyone's data on their home computers"...just like a spoiled little kid breaking all their toys. What next? Would they look back and think "Gee, that was stupid and pointless"? These people obviously have some level of intelligence...but act out in stupid ways. Maybe it's all the kids that got picked-on in school and this is their way to lash out at the world...teach us all a "lesson". I just don't get it!
