Have you ever tried removing a flywheel without an impact and nothing to lock it to? Yes you can.

Why leave it on

If you need to split the case why leave it on? Its just more weight to deal with and you cant get the main bearing or the seal off.

Flywheel has to come off first on 36HP and older engines only.

also on 356s theres a bolt right above the cam plug.
but then we dont drive 356s now do we? :lol:

The type 4 also has a bolt near the cam
